Description
The Bird of Paradise offers a unique blend of exquisite detail, spacious comfort and quiet ambiance. It was designed by Wilson & Associates, famed resort designers for the Amandari in Bali, Las Ventanas in Cabo San Lucas, Peninsula in Beverly Hills, and numerous others. Named after the exotic birds of Papua New Guinea, the Bird of Paradise is designed in an Asian Tropical style with meandering, lagoon-style pools that weave between the four buildings to create an intimate compound that is lush with vegetation.
The villa is located on a small bluff overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the islands of St. Barth�s and St. Martin. The beautiful, curved Sandy Hill Bay beach is a short walk down a path and the sheltered bay and beach offer excellent swimming and snorkeling as well as a safe harbor for a small yacht.
The Bird of Paradise villa offers true indoor-outdoor living with entire walls that fold completely back and away to let in the gentle breezes and fragrances of this tropical paradise. The interiors feature rich woods that set the stage for the extensive collection of primitive art, gathered by the owners on travels to Papua New Guinea, Borneo and Ethiopia.
The villa offers a spacious living room with fold-back walls, as well as several exterior living areas, one with a fireplace. There are three dining experiences. The outdoor ambiance is captured in large verandahs and terrace patios, both shaded and open. A large Indonesian bale or daybed is situated in a grove of palm trees overlooking the sea and is perfect for massages and naps.
There are four bedroom suites with an office that can serve as a fifth bedroom. The placement of the suites, each with its own balcony and equal, panoramic views, assures individual privacy for guests. The master bedroom is housed in its own freestanding air-conditioned pavillion just steps from it's own private plunge pool overlooking the ocean. Each suite has its own refrigerator and coffee service. Frette linens and Bvlgari amenities enhance the luxury of this tropical retreat.
A lagoon style pool meanders between the master bedroom and the main living area which is housed in an open-air living pavillion that merges into a terrace along the ocean side and provides dining for 12. The pool serves as a water feature and provides a dramatic glow at night.
